A Day in My Life With My Furry Co-Workers
3:00 A.M.— I wake up to the tiniest, most precious, and most annoying whimper. Followed by a wet nose to my face. This is the first of approximately one million potty trips I will make with my youngest child, Moose. He is an Australian Cattle Dog, one month shy of one year. As soon as he sees my eyes flutter open, he whines a little louder, and heads to the bedroom door to meet me. I get up, half awake, and follow him down the staircase, and to the front door. We leash up, and head outside. He pees for what seems to be eternity, and we go back in and to bed. I lay back down, knowing that I won’t actually be able to fall asleep, but I try all the same.
5:00 A.M. — The alarm on my phone goes off, and Moose knows what that means. He gives a little whimper, and places his wet nose on mine once again. I’m telling you, this pup is insanely intelligent, and runs on a very strict schedule. While I appreciate this about him, I also wish the schedule he adhered to was mine. Like De Ja Vu, we head down the stairs, and back outside. He does his business once again, as his sister heads to the front door. Hank likes to stay outside all night. We are convinced that she is the ring leader of the cat gang in our neighborhood. As soon as Moose catches sight of Hank, he chases after her. Luckily, Hank has a table and chairs to hide under.
